2009 is now here and it is time to start planning for this New Year. Just what do you want from the coming year? How sure are you to achieve your New Year resolutions?
Getting a fresh start with the New Year is an artificial custom - you can begin to get the life you love and live it at any time you choose. But let the first couple of weeks of January 2009 be the starting point for a new you. Envision yourself at the end of the year and describe at least 3 achievements you would like to have achieved to make you feel that 2009 had been a successful one.
Today, on thanks giving day, the world is shocked with all the carnage in Mumbai over the last 24 hours.
I simply cannot understand why and even less so I cannot even begin to know what the loved ones of those killed, injured or missing are going through right now.
I feel especially sad having visited Mumbai many times and even stayed at the Taj Palace hotel once. Only a few weeks ago, a dear friend and her husband stayed there for a week and I am so grateful they were not there this week. But at the same time, my heart and thoughts are with all those grieving right now around the world.
What have they got to be grateful or thankful about today?! Just how does one console them?
Here in London it is quite windy and my garden is covered with sad, brown leaves discarded by the even sadder but magnificent copper beech tree.
This is always a poignant time for me as it signifies another year rolling to an end with shorter days and winter nights approaching rapidly.
At the same time, it is also an invigorating time and I love the crisp early mornings whilst I walk to the local parks.
This is also a time for us all to shed our own “leaves”, let go and create space for new things next spring. And of course it is a time to celebrate old endings and new beginnings.
As I write this late in the evening, I am sipping on a glass of red wine and enjoying the quiet tranquility all around me.
It is special moments like this that makes me appreciate what I have and all the things around me. Life is precious and we should all look for ways of celebrating every day.
Celebrating life doesn?????t have to be anything major either - simply sharing a meal with a friend, going for a walk on your own or calling someone and chatting light heartedly. It all makes one aware of the magic around us and in us.
Today I have even more reason to celebrate as I am expecting delivery of the first printed copies of my next book anyday:-) This is the culmination of a project first started over a year ago. Tomorrow I also have a dear friend visiting from Sri Lanka. My life is full or appears to be.
The point is that we can look daily for reasons in our life to celebrate life - and we can then choose to celebrate in a small or big way as it suits us.
So how will you celebrate your life today?! Who with?
