Calculators
Our calculators are here to provide you with a foundation of awareness and knowledge to help you begin your lifestyle changes. You can calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI), your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR), your ideal body weight, your daily calorie needs and calories burned. In addition you can learn how to calculate your body composition and do any weights and measure conversions you would like. BMI Calculator BMI stands for Body Mass Index, and it is an assessment of your weight relative to your height. Our BMI Calculator will calculate your BMI for you, and don't worry if you measure yourself in pounds, feet or centimetres. We'll convert the numbers to fit the equation. BMR Calculator Both BMR and RMR are estimates of how many calories you would burn if you were to do nothing but rest for 24 hours. They represent the minimum amount of energy required to keep your body functioning, including your heart beating, lungs breathing, and body temperature normal. BMR stands for Basal Metabolic Rate, and is synonymous with Basal Energy Expenditure or BEE. BMR measurements are typically taken in a darkened room upon waking after 8 hours of sleep; 12 hours of fasting to ensure that the digestive system is inactive; and with the subject resting in a supine or reclining position. Activity Calculator How can you burn off some of those extra calories before they turn into extra pounds? After thinking about a particular dish you savoured (was it that brownie sundae?), try our Activity Calculator to see how many calories you expend doing your favourite exercise or activity. Our weight loss calculator calculates the time and daily calorie loss required to reach your goal weight. This calculator tells you your ideal body weight according to 4 different formulas. Reversed BMI, The Hamwi formula, The Devine formula and the Robinson formula. The Height, Weight, and Food Quantities conversion tool is designed to easily convert body weight and height from one unit or system of measurement to another. It also has the capability to convert food weights and food volumes from one unit or system of measurement to another. The hip to waist ratio is another (and better) way of judging whether your weight is healthy. You can work out your waist-to-hip ratio by dividing the measurement of your waist by that of your hips. |
