The Transformation Journey
The transformation journey is a metaphor that can help us find meaning to our experience of the process of changing the circumstances in our lives and the stages we need to go through in order for those changes to become lasting and natural – especially around the sense of who we are. You are setting off on a journey to claim a more fulfilling life – to be more of who you really are. The mythologist, Joseph Campbell created a powerful roadmap to describe these stages and called it the hero’s journey. The Body Transformation Journey is inspired by this. The journey inward and the journey outward The adventures we face on the journey will be challenging and exciting. The journey can be inward and it can be outward. Healing emotional pain, becoming more financially abundant, getting our bodies in shape. Usually there are aspects of both. It can open the doors to knowledge and understanding. If we understand the journey pattern and use it as a map, we will be better able to face difficulties and use our experiences to become stronger and more capable. Understanding the patterns can help us Connecting with ourselves Sometimes, our journey is about learning to believe in ourselves to deeply connect with and have compassion for who we are. To nurture ourselves when necessary and stand up and do what needs to be done when necessary. It is really a journey to the centre of yourself, an inner journey to wholeness, understanding and fulfilment. The effect of the successful adventure of the hero is the unlocking and release again of the flow of life into the body of the world. The miracle of this flow may be represented in physical terms as a circulation of food substance, dynamically as a streaming of energy, or spiritually as a manifestation of grace. It is your journey We need to understand too, that the journey is ours. Our mentors and helpers can assist and point the way, but they cannot take the journey for us. The challenge is ours, must be ours if we are to benefit from it and grow. If we allow anyone or anything to help us too much, the growth value of the challenge is lost. Always remember that who you are is so much more than your current life and its limitations. Who you are is not your history, but the future you are moving into. Returning home Part of the transformation is a revelation, a sudden dramatic change in the way we think or view life, and the results we manifest. We return “home” with the knowledge and powers acquired on the journey and the changes we experience are natural and lasting.
